“I have a small farmhouse out on Tates Creek Road. The house was built in 1796 and consists of hewn Oak. The house is beautiful but I have always had trouble whenever any remodeling needs to be done, since special care needs to be taken when doing any work on this historic site. For the year the house has been rented to some wonderful tenants who take care of the place, but in November of 2009 I was dismayed to discover that the old oil furnace needed to be completely replaced. The furnace was beneath the house in a tiny damp crawl space so relocating it was a good idea. I got three bids from companies recommended by friends, and chose one of the companies to do the work.

I hadn’t been working with Comfort Heating & Air at this point, but a good friend told me I really should have Tony and Darren at Comfort Heating & Air give me a bid for the work. My friend Bill is the property owner, and I value his opinion, so I called Comfort Heating & Air. They gave me a bid that was in line with the other bids, but due to the time constraints and cold weather in the forecast, I had already given the go-ahead to another company. The weather was chilly due to get very cold in a matter of days, so time was crucial.

It very quickly became apparent that the company I had selected to use was not going to get the job done. I got a phone call halfway through the first day from the installer telling me that the workers were going to be out of town for at least two weeks but that they’d get back to finish the job when they returned. I was appalled. I called the installer and told him that the work needed to be done immediately as there were people living in the house without heat. The installers knew this when they gave me the bid, and they had assured me that the job would be done in a couple of days. Turns out they had no idea what they were doing. After I told the foreman to get their stuff and leave, I frantically called Comfort Heating & Air and explained the situation to Tony.

He drove right out that same day, and he and Darren ran over my options and costs, and they told me they’d make time to get the furnace in that week. This was during a busy week for them, but they recognized that I really needed them. Not only did I get better work, and better equipment than anyone else would have provided for the same price, but the fellows working on the furnace were as pleasant as could be. The tenants even remarked that things went more smoothly thatn anyone might imagine. Comfort Heating & Air really came through for me and went above and beyond providing great customer service.

They averted what could have easily been a disaster by getting the work done efficiently – the house’s heat was on in time for the big freeze. They did the work quickly, cleaned up the area so you’d never guess we’d just had a furnace installed, and even followed up with telephone calls to make sure both I and the tenants were happy with their work.
